LinkedIn Selling: Growth Comes With Noise

Selling on LinkedIn is one of the most powerful ways to grow your business! Today, it's where professionals connect and opportunities are discovered, mostly in B2B sales. But as your presence grows, so does attracting the wrong people. It is your job to filter the right from the wrong. Engage with those who add value, and ignore those who don't.



Growth attracts the right and wrong attention


When you post regularly and share your voice openly, more people notice. Prospects, clients and collaborators will reach out. This is where LinkedIn works amazingly. On the flipside, it also means you can encounter negativity or individuals who don't align with your values. The funny thing is that an interaction can start off great. Once off the platform and a conversation takes place, different things can unfold.



My experience


Recently, I met a business professional who seemed promising at first. But once I dug a little deeper and decided to NOT pursue a meeting, everything shifted. As someone in sales, qualifying prospects is part of the process - and I realized this wasn't the right fit.


Because I changed my mind, he became outraged. He called me a "petty power player" and "less intelligent." In that moment, I knew I had to protect my peace, so I blocked him. A string of negative messages were coming at me.


This experience reminded me growth means you'll attract both the right and wrong people. Your ability to filter opportunities from noise, is necessary. The wrong ones reveal themselves quickly. This is great, because it leaves space for the right ones.


Think of it this way...


Good and bad experiences indicate visibility. LinkedIn is a journey. As you grow, remember that the presence of rude people is not a setback, but rather a sign you are moving forward. Growth isn't about pleasing everyone. It's about reaching the ones who matter. Stay focused on your mission . Don't let negativity derail your goals. The right connections make it worthwhile.
